Advice for the Cute

As my loyal readers may be aware, I am not averse to passing on helpful hints to others about matters of mutual interest.  Also, it is my philosophy that you can never be too cute.

In that spirit, I firmly believe the transition from merely cute to adorable is the most difficult one of all.  Believe me, I have studied the matter.  Indeed, I have devoted much of my life to that study.

Cute is cute.  Adorable is a whole other matter.  Adorable takes years of hard work, studious observation and adaptation, sometimes just dumb luck.

The photo above illustrates my point.  I have for years noted that when "they" want to go out and leave you alone, "they" gather all the clothing they want to use.  Of course, you will want to roll around all over it.  Everybody does that.  It's cute, there is no denying.

It is also cute to just steal some essential element and hide it under the bed, for example.  But adorable goes beyond that.  Adorable, in this case, means you actually have to wear the article yourself.

Yesterday - call it inspiration, call it genius, call it whatever - the stars were aligned.  I had for months observed the care "they" take in donning their scarves, "her" especially.  It's not easy, not at all, in that, unlike "them" I lack arms and opposable thumbs.

But there you have it.  Voila!  A few deft rolls.  The deed is done.  The work of a lifetime achieved.

Of course, "they" went out anyway, more's the pity, and I was left to hit the hay in their absence.  Life is that way sometimes.

He's Back!

That's right.  I'd recognize him anywhere.  It's Fat Sparrow.  "He" says how can you be certain?  It could be any sparrow.  "She" agrees.  I KNOW!

Of all the bird feeders in all the world, why did he choose mine?

We find him strangely intriguing but they won't let us at him. I think they just want to torment us. Life sucks. One of these days me and Bob are going to get him.

This is the sink we hid under last week.

Me and old Bob came thisclose to being wiped out by a tornado headed STRAGHT to Lakeview! That was a close one!
